One who denies because it does not appeal to their intellect is better off than one who claims to believe for self-interest. For the moment something appeals to the intellect of the former, their return is like that of the Saints, whereas for the latter, there is no hope at all. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Gospel of Matthew (22:37):
Without curiosity, whose words among the great thinkers could have gained acceptance and reached our present day? Curiosity is the ignition key of your intellect. Through it, knowing is attained, and through knowing, respect and love. And if this love later turns into divine passion, it elevates you to the highest spiritual station. That is when, viewed from above, you shine and draw attention from the highest heavens in a pitch-black world. The prayers you offer are answered immediately; whichever shop front you pass by, business flourishes there that day. The one to whom you say “bon appétit” finds wholesome nourishment, and the one to whom you say “get well soon” finds healing. How could it be otherwise, when your chest is now filled with His proximity? It is He who speaks through your tongue, hears through your ears, and wills through your heart.
“When I love him, I become his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he touches, and his foot with which he walks. If he asks Something of Me, I will surely give it to him..” (Bukhari)
And again, Teresa of Ávila says: “Here the soul is so united with God that there is now but one will between them. God sees through the eyes of the soul, and shows mercy through the hands of the soul.”
Let Majnun no longer say “I love”
No one can love Him unless He wills it. He implants His own love only into the hearts of those He wishes to draw near to Himself. As I said, if it exists, it exists because He gave it. Once His love settles in the heart, everything begins to change. Love alone becomes insufficient; even if total union is not attained, the need to draw closer encompasses that person. How could one not wish to draw near? Even in this world, a human always desires to be close to their beloved. It would be strange otherwise—what kind of love is it where you claim to love yet live happily far removed from the beloved?..
Then it cannot be called love; it is something else. Right at this point, searches rightfully begin within that person. They look up and cannot find Him, look right and left and cannot find Him.. Nothing they see seems worthy of Him. If they seem to find Him somewhere, upon realizing it is not worthy of their beloved, they cast it to the ground with aversion and continue searching. Forget all the love stories you know.. Let Romeo come and behold love. Let Majnun no longer say “I love.”
“We have no lips, yet we utter His name. We have no hands, yet we perform His work. Love has so consumed us that from head to toe, we have become Him.”.. Rumi..
The desire for union has become unbearable now. Nothing can offer solace. The greatest devastation is experienced when realizing that the beloved can never be reached in substance. He is an ungraspable jewel. One has fallen in love with Someone who can never be captured, never fully comprehended, and never possessed. They best understand the moth fluttering around the lamp. That moth, once captivated by the light, knows that if it alights even for a moment, it will burn instantly. The only option left is to draw closer. Nothing else. Hence, the intense search begins. Ultimately, one finds Him on the left side of their chest.
One realizes that the thing called the heart was a palace of the soul containing a throne meant for one. Now there is no one left in the world except oneself and Him. Should anything other than Him enter the heart even for a moment, one witnesses Him instantly fleeing. And once again, one understands.. He resides only in pristine places reserved for Him. Not in places where fears, interests, and created beings dwell. Is it not understandable? Would you not want your children to love you simply for who you are? Not for what they can extract from you. Is it not your right to have no doubt about your spouse’s fidelity in abundance and in scarcity? If it is so even for you, does He not deserve far more?
As time passes, just as a patient goes to treatment, one begins to appear beside the abandoned, the sick, or the homeless; for what was sought was found there. Not beside those who walk the earth with pride, attributing the wealth in their safe to their own success, nor beside the one who, sipping a coffee equal in cost to ten days of food for a homeless person, inwardly believes these were given to them because they are deeply loved and on the right path. Least of all beside those who look down upon their inferiors with contempt and preach to everyone. Had it been so, poor Jesus would have swum in affluence. The orphan Muhammad would not have bound a stone to his belly out of hunger.
One finds Him in the eyes looking with joy of that poor soul to whom one bought food from what one ate and slipped a few cents into their pocket. One sees Him when bringing joy to a child who has no one to love. When telling that elderly woman, who has had no visitors for months, that everything will be fine while slipping something into her palm, one finds what was sought in those eyes filled with hope.
Upon Moses asking God, “My Lord, where shall I seek You?”, He replied, “Seek Me beside the broken-hearted (the sorrowful).”
And again, “For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: ‘I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.'” Prophet Isaiah (57:15)
Lastly: “If you seek treasure, look in ruined places. The favor of the Sovereign, by the play of destiny, always inclines toward broken hearts and the helpless.” said Rumi.
It is entirely natural for this state to yield such a result, as suffering burns away and destroys everything in the heart that is not pleasing to God. Watch carefully those who walk with pride; as their suffering increases, their heads will bow downward. In contrast to your desire to draw near to God, Satan will attempt to frighten you with poverty and helplessness. In fact, he has likely tried a few times even while you were reading this text. It is certain that God is the most precious, yet He bestows Himself upon you without charge. If He had a price, no one could purchase Him.. Not even His prophets.

In this age where self-interest and fear dominate life and humanity, the number of those who become curious and pursue Him is one in a million, perhaps one in ten million. So be it.. I have spoken my mind nonetheless. If you desire what is beneficial to you, listen not to my words, but to the words of those exalted people whose names I have written above. If one day you find the opportunity to approach a poor, distressed soul, and if you know someone like yourself, drop them a pin location. Tell them that you have sent them God’s location and tell them to come. If you have something to say or to ask of God, ask it beside these broken-hearted ones. Do not search in vain for Him where He is not.
